Mat 13:19 When any one hears the word of the kingdom, and understands it not, then comes the wicked one, and catches away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

This is the Person who hears the gospel and dismisses it as false?

Mat 13:20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that hears the word, and anon with joy receives it;
Mat 13:21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but endures for a while: for when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, by and by he is offended.

This is the person who hears the Gospel and believes it and is very happy to have herd it, however he weighs the pros and the cons and decides the cost is too high.

Loss of friends, loss of perceived freedom, ridicule, fear of change?

Mat 13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that hears the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

This is the person who weighs the pleasures of the world world against a life of alignment with Gods will. The love of money verses the love of others, greed?

The five foolish virgins all fall into one of these two categories.

Mat 13:23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that hears the word, and understands it; which also bears fruit, and brings forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

The key to good ground is hearing, understanding, and applying The Word to your life. When you do this the natural progression is fruit?

You choose to forgive others, you choose love over hate, you consider others needs over your own, you give to those in need. You Spread the Good News any possible way you can, you produce fruit.
