The actress Yuliet Cruz and the singer Leoni Torres sent this Tuesday from Havana a message of support to the demonstrators in Cuba who took to the streets in protest against the Government, in the face of the crisis exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic. The couple of Cuban artists described the recent events as "very sad." "It is very painful. We have had little access to the internet ”, denounced Cruz. “As a Cuban woman and mother, I want to express my total disagreement with the violence unleashed by the Cuban government against the people. It has no justification, there isn't. All this could have been avoided ”, assured the actress and presenter. “Something has just broken that is not going to be put back together, and they don't know how much it hurts and it has broken my heart. You cannot repress a people who are asking to be heard. It's not the way to do it, with a club. You have to listen to the people, they have their full and legitimate right to tell you what they do not want and the job of the rulers is listen and respond to that call ”, he stated. Likewise, the actress called on Cubans not to raise their hands or commit any other violent act against any of her countrymen. "Can not be. We have to finish taking the strength away from those who want to divide us (…) We have to unite, ”she said. The artist herself confessed that the violence had shocked her. “The images are very harsh. I never expected to see these things. It is not the Cuba that I want, ”she said. "We want a free Cuba," added Leoni Torres. “Free from injustice for all Cubans. We are in Havana and we have suffered a lot from all this that we are going through. We want to elect our president, ”she pointed out. Several Cuban artists have spoken in the last hours in favor of the people and against the repression by the authorities of the protests that began on Sunday. Among them, the musicians Adalberto Álvarez, Alain Pérez, Yomil Hidalgo, Cimafunk and El Micha, to name a few.

Hemos tenido poco acceso a internet”, denunció Cruz.
