Leaked call shows CIA pressured Yemen to release Al Qaeda leader and CIA operative Anwar Al Awlaki
A leaked phone call allegedly between then CIA head George Tenet and former leader of Yemen, Ali Abdullah Saleh has surfaced. In the call Tenet can be heard to ask for the release of a man who would later be identified as, Anwar Al Awlaki within 48 Hours. At the time Awlaki was being held by Yemen along with others as suspects in the bombing of the USS Cole in 2000.
