Kershaw Oso Sweet knife: Daddy Like
Daddy like indeed. Give me a lightweight, high-value, well-made EDC blade that works well in role and I am a fan. Case in point: the Kershaw "O So Sweet" Model 1830 assisted opening knife. At just $22 it represents impressive value. Its charm begins with good design: lightweight (2.8 ounces), fast "SpeedSafe"® flipper opening, solid lockup, and good looks. The Zytel handle is innovative, featuring a cool web-pattern mold that is ergonomic and tractionable. The Oso Sweet feels good in hand and one can almost forgive the complete lack of jimping topside... almost. That's because in its POU of EDC blade, it probably won't be missed much. Add in a polished re-positionable high quality pocket clip and a nicely shaped, flat ground satin finished AUS6A blade to achieve a few extra points on the Nutnfancy Likability Scale. The Zytel handles are 410 stainless lined for strength and although no skeletonizing is present, the knife's weight is feathery. The blade shape is excellent and has good point and belly. Nope the AUS6A steel isn't one of my favorites and I do prefer others, but at this price point it is about on par with other competitors and will be satisfactory for most users. Kershaw puts down another winner in the EDC knife Octagon with the Oso Sweet. Well done. /////////////////////////// Nutnfancy LIkability Scale: 9 out of 10 (price considered) ///////// Music: http://www.partnersinrhyme.com
