Jesus as God: Philo, Rabbi Akiva, the Apocrypha, and the Old Testament Background of this Confession

In this video, Chad Bird explores the writings of Philo, the early rabbinic controversy about "Two Powers in Heaven," the Wisdom of Solomon, Sirach, and Old Testament texts to help us understand "complex monotheism." How could a 1st century Jew, like Thomas, call Jesus "my God"? What is the significance of the Word, Wisdom, and Messenger traditions in early Jewish literature, and the Old Testament? We will see that all these texts are the background for believing in one God, and also in confessing that God's Messiah is truly divine.
