To understand the Book of Revelation one must first understand HOW the Book is meant to be read. First thing one should understand is that the Book Of Revelation is in two parts with the second part reiterating in a different form, (Chapter 12 only, symbolically) the first eleven chapters. Chapter twelve starts the retelling of the previous first eleven chapters with the birth of Christ. The 144,000 are already in Heaven and are coming to the earth. The 144,000 are referring to the twelve tribes of Israel before it became a divided kingdom in the reign of Rehoboam. There are characteristics named about these 144,000 namely, Revelation 14:4
“These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.”
They are Virgins. They are Male. They are in heaven with the Lamb.
Revelation 14:1
“And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Zion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.”
Where is the Lamb presently? In heaven seated at the right hand of God the Father.

Either this man is not using the Holy Bible or is meaning to mislead you regarding the Bible. What the Bible actually states regarding the mark of the beast is this, Revelation 13:16 KJV
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

In means in. Regarding the mark, this is what the Bible says if you take the mark, Revelation 14:9-11 KJV
And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, [10] The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: [11] And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
