I used to wet tumble my cartridge cases but, my Dillons are high volume and due to their high volume, I have learned to eliminate any unneeded steps because it gives me more time at the range. My turn around time on my Dillons is minimal… LITERALLY!!! One unneeded step is universal decap. My Dillons takes care of that so why add another step? Another unneeded step is waiting for cartridge cases to dry and messing with pins in hundreds of cases at a time. With dry tumbling I can literally come home, tumble my cases, while tumbling I fill my primers, powder and verify charge weight. Then, I run my cases through the media separator and from there I run them through my Dillon. I am done and ready for my next shoot. With a fresh mind from shooting I know the overall condition of my cases and do my inspections and am running my Dillon in short order. The nice thing about setting the Dillon up while the cases are dry tumbling is I can double check my Dillon, get organized and I find that in not much more than 15 minutes or so I pull the cases from the tumbler and they are ready to go. If you want an extra freebie, go ahead and clean a gun or two allowing your cases to tumble a little longer and now you see that you are getting more done while managing your time. My mind set is… I just want to shoot, not polish brass.
I do wet tumble my rifle cases in order to remove the case lube so sometimes I will throw a handful of pistol cases in with the rifle because it’s a freebie. But past that I dry tumble. My Dillons enable me to reload more… QUICKER!!! Therefore, I get more range time. So, by eliminating time wasters I can get my ammo loaded back up and start planning my next shoot!!!
As far as those who believe that by not cleaning the primer pockets on handgun ammo reduces accuracy, I beg to differ. For one, I have tested both in my Ransom handgun rest and have found no difference between the two. Two, even if there were an accuracy loss, due to the short sight radius and lower velocities produced from handguns the shooter will lose more accuracy from human error than they ever will by running dirty primer pockets.
I look at polishing handgun primer pockets this way: Polishing primer pockets for handgun is like washing inside the valve covers of your car after washing the car. It gains you absolutely no benefits while driving. For those who wet tumble I have no problem and do not care either way. For me, I just need more trigger time.
God bless and thanks for watching.

P.S. The Dillon media separator is built super solid. My only advice is if you shoot a lot, buy the large vibratory tumbler and the large media separator. You can thank me later.
