Elective surgeries are being put on hold and despite "dramatically reduced patient volumes" during COVID-19 lockdowns, the report found hospitals were still facing severe pressure.

The AMA says the state of Australia's hospitals should "worry all Australians" from the dire state of Australia's public health system.

President Omar Khorshid stated, "the hospital system is about to get "much worse". The virus from the vaxxed will become endemic which will intensify pressure on an already-stretched public hospital system."

"Unless we do something dramatic to help our hospitals, this is as ‘good as it gets’ when it comes to hospital performance for Australians."
