I had a Doberman many years ago, she was beautiful and loyal and never showed aggression, but the hardest thing to come to terms with, was when her time up came, to me she was still a youngish dog, but the bigger dogs do not live as long as smaller dogs.

The dob in pic is my 6th dob.you don't need to teach protection.its natural.plus just their presence works on a guilty persons mind.in my experiances 7-9 years is how long they lasted.heart issues.dont matter what care you give it's genetics.i seen a dob chapter was trying to put together dobs that don't have that gene.to form a breeding pool.id rather have a great dog for 7 yrs than a mediocre dog for 14 yrs.them passing sucks.go get another pup and you'll realize you punished yourself for not getting another sooner.youll sleep better
