In my last episode, I presented how from a small town of Salem the Jebusites transformed the site into a walled and well-protected fortress of Jebus. We talked about David’s incredible strategy to conquer the city and the establishment of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. We continued the story of Jerusalem in the time of Salomon, who enlarged the city with impressive and unique buildings, centered around the Temple on Mount Moriah. Finally, we finished with the story of King Hezekiah who build massive walls to protect the settlements on the Western hill, build a new tunnel that channeled water to the pool of Siloam, and thanks to his faithfulness to the God of Israel, Jerusalem was miraculously delivered from Assyrian destruction in the 8th century B.C.
Today we will continue the story and talk about some of the greatest tragedies that Jerusalem experienced. In this episode, we will cover the story of Jerusalem from the Babylonian destruction to the Maccabean revolt.
Approximately from 600 BC to 130 BC.
