Intense rains, hail and swollen rivers are some of the consequences of the strong storm that affected the province of Córdoba in the last hours, where in some jurisdictions the water fall was higher than 130 millimeters. A similar situation was experienced in San Juan, which was affected by a strong storm on Tuesday night.
Several fords in the Punilla Valley region had to be closed due to the flow of water that passes through them, which also caused numerous floods to be recorded in the different mountain rivers.
The general director of Civil Protection, warned that in the face of the heavy rain that has fallen in various sectors of the Cordovan territory “it is necessary to behave with great caution and follow the instructions of the personnel who are working in the affected areas.
In the zone of Chapel of the Mount, the Dolores river reached 2.7 meters, as did the Calabalumba river, which also increased its flow. “All that water is going to impact San Marcos Sierras, where the river has already reached 2.7 meters
The fallen rain accompanied by hail has caused some inconveniences, especially in the area of Punilla, in the jurisdiction of Capilla del Monte, Las Gemelas sector, where the volume exceeded 130 millimeters
In the rest of the Valley, significant floods were observed in the San Antonio and Cosquín rivers, since it rained a lot in the upper and middle basins. Sierras Chicas and Calamuchita also had fords cut off to traffic.
The province of San Juan was also affected by a strong storm during the night of Tuesday. The National Meteorological Service (SMN) had predicted the arrival of a thunderstorm with the possibility of hail and it finally materialized.
This phenomenon mainly affected the departments of Rawson, Rivadavia, Chimbas, Pocito and part of the provincial capital.
