On this Second Sunday of Lent, we remember the Mystery of the Transfiguration in the Holy Gospel. It is good Lord to be here...it is good Lord to see You glorified...to see Your Most Sacred Body shining more brightly than the sun. It is good Lord to be on Mt. Thabor and to see a human nature like our own perfected, transfigured and utterly beautiful in every way. Our dear Lord shows us the end and goal of our earthly journey...an eternal life in heaven without any disfigurement in body or soul. But remember, that Christ Jesus allowed Himself to become disfigured in His Holy Passion. That same Body that shines with unborrowed light on Mt. Thabor, was beaten, scourged, scarred, crowned with thorns, wounded, and crucified. Christ Jesus united Himself with all of disfigured humanity during His Passion. He threw off His glory. He cast aside His beauty. Having been disfigured in His Passion and Death, our dear Lord would rise from the dead on the third day. On Easter Sunday, the disfiguration became a Transfiguration.
