The Sinabung stratovolcano, located in the north of the island of Sumatra in Indonesia, on March 2 threw a column of smoke and ash to a height of five kilometers.
This is the first major volcanic eruption since August 2020. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but the vicinity of the mountain was covered with ash.
Sinabung has been active lately, periodically throwing out ash and stones. Because of this, residents of the surrounding settlements have been living on high alert for a month now.
