In 2016, Louisiana Sheriff’s Captain, Clay Higgins released a crime stoppers video identifying 7 wanted members of a violent street gang, he described as “animals & heathens”. One of the gang members was Darren Carter.

Higgins decribed his work as a mission from God saying, “I will not kneel to violent street gangs. I will not kneel to murderers, or the parents that raised them. I will not kneel to a discredited wanna-be black activist that doesn't have the best interest of his people in mind.”

Four days after this video posted in 2016, and soon after generated 15 million views. Clay was not forced to resign, but he elected to turn in his badge as a matter of conscience.

Clay Higgins assumed office as U.S. House of Representatives from Louisiana's 3rd district on Jan 3, 2017.
