Colt 1917 Army Revolver Restoration - Part 4 - Grips Prep

In this part I am preparing the grips for refinish. I use a variety of methods to get the bad stuff off and out of the grips.

This includes stripping the finish with Dawn Power Dissolver, boiling the grips in water with dish washing liquid, bleaching using Wood Bleach, and drawing out old oil with Calcium Carbonate (Whiting as Brownells calls it).
