Bushnell TRS-25: High Performance Micro Red Dot

This a great micro red dot sight option for $90. It compares favorably to the overpriced Aimpoint Micro red dot sights. The TRS-25 is compact and can serve as either a primary or even back up sight option, weighing 4.2 ounces (however I think a Burris FastFire sight at 1.8 oz is a better but more $ backup option). Using a 3V CR2032 power cell, this diminutive red dot produces high brightness levels and battery life is listed at 3000 hours. Eleven brightness levels are provided. The selector dial is very positive in operation. Adjustment range seems sufficient in my testing, providing 70" at 100 yds (1.9m @ 100 meters). The green coating is not obnoxious and dimming as in some other cheap red dots I've shot. Mounting is via a single screw on the base which adapts to PIcatinny/Weaver systems quickly and locks on solidly. Recoil ratings is listed for up to .375 H&H Magnum levels by Bushnell. A rubber scope cover is provided but is not integrally attached (common at this point in time for this type of sight). Expect the non-recessed lenses to get dirty and wet more readily than tube-type red dot offerings. The 3 MOA sized dot provides more precision fire and still is quickly acquired especially at higher brightness levels. Value is excellent given the alternatives in mid 2010. Cabela's was selling this sight at a reasonable $90 at time of recording. For reference, the iTac brand "RDS1 micro red dot is also shown and suggested.
