U.S. President Joe Biden on Friday (February 5) departed for Delaware for his first weekend outside Washington since taking office.
Biden told reporters on a tarmac in New Castle, Delaware, that he was going to spend the weekend with First Lady Jill Biden and his grandchildren, and move the remainder of their belongings from their house in Wilmington to the White House.
It also appeared to be a working weekend, as several White House aides -- Steve Ricchetti, Yohannes Abraham, Annie Tomasini and Stephen Goepfert -- were seen boarding his waiting helicopter on the White House South Lawn.
Earlier in the day, Biden and his economic team hammered home the message that it was time to put more money into the economy, after lackluster jobs data showed the U.S. labor market recovery was stalling.
The Democratic president met with top Democrats from the U.S. House of Representatives on Friday at the White House Friday where he said the United States would not return to full employment at the current pace of job creation for 10 years, underscoring the need for lawmakers to act on his $1.9 trillion pandemic-related aid proposal.
