You’ve done an excellent job of making the case fir a 10 gauge.
I was stoked when 3.5” 12 gauge came out until I ran into the patterning issues you’ve described. I found that opening my choke pattern allowed for better patterning at long range.
It seemed as if the larger loads were “running into” each other when forced by the tighter chokes that I was using to “prepare” the pattern for long range.
I think I ultimately found the sweet spot on my Franchi Variomax 912.
I really like what you’re saying about the push of a 10 vs the punch of a Super 12. I talk about this with other guns.
I’ve always wanted an Ithaca in 10 and I think you’ve just sold me.
Excellent podcast man. Very good stuff.
