At least 14 people have been killed as tornadoes tore across three US states, destroying homes in minutes and cutting power for hundreds of thousands.

Seven people were killed in northern Texas, five in Arkansas and two in Oklahoma. Scores more were injured, and almost 500,000 were without electricity across several states.
