Could be, but not enough awake gun owners willing to risk life, limb, and property to stop a Globalist Communist Takeover. We must trust that the military has a handle on this. The military has technology that can wipe out huge crowds whether they are armed or not. Let's hope there are still some Patriots in the highest ranks.

Here's how shorts work: Suppose you believe the stock price of ABC is grossly overvalued, and the stock's going to crash sometime soon. You believe this so strongly that you decide to borrow 10 shares of ABC stock from your broker and sell them at $50 each, pocketing $500 in cash.

So you now have $500 in cash and an obligation to purchase and return the 10 shares of ABC stock at some point in the future. If the stock goes up above the $50 price, you'll lose money because you'll have to pay a higher price to repurchase the shares and return them to the broker's account.

For example, if the stock went to $250 per share, you'd have to spend $2,500 to buy back the 10 shares you owe the brokerage. You still keep the original $500, so your net loss would be $2,000. On the other hand, if the stock went to $10 per share, you could repurchase the 10 shares for $100 and profit $400.

I have always said they need to go back to buy, hold, and sell stocks only. No shorts, no longs, no margin buying, no penny stocks, no money speculation. Take the gambling out of the stock market, take the scaming out of the stock market, and corporation officers should only be paid regular salaries like the rest of working people.

Selling stock for a profit, or earning dividends should be the only way to make money on the stock market.

I agree. Shorting in and of itself isn't illegal - but it's all gambling and kind of unseemly given that you're essentially betting on a company failing and jobs lost. The problem with Game Stop is that the hedgers got greedy and shorted over 100% of the stock. When people saw that, they bought, and shot the stock price up, which screwed the hedgers.
