AR680? Wut, I heard that stuff was too brittle for armor use?!

Today we have some Armour Wear AR680 Level III+ plates. These are 6x8 side plates:

Test Gun: Stag Arms, Model 1L, 16" barrel
Chronograph: Pro Chronopal Chronograph
Test Taken: 30yds
Round Used: Lake City M855A1, 62gr EPR.
Rockwell hardness of the tip: 58C
The steel tip is:
Fe – 97.73 %
Mn - .814 %
Zn – 1.39 %

Weather:
Temperature: 50*F
Humidity: 60%
Baro: 30.28" HG
Dew Point: 37.4*F
Elevation: 849 Feet.

At this velocity the round failed to penetrate the plate. Velocity was pretty good at 2,982 fps, but it just didn't have enough to get through
