Dear UGETube Community,
At great financial cost and effort, we've made it through another election cycle here in the USA. We hope to have helped preserve freedom of speech through dark and trying times.
Unfortunately, we can no longer justify the enormous ongoing costs required to continue this platform, which has largely been financed by my personal investments, and some funding from donors and participating advertisers. We're very grateful for our donors, advertisers, uploaders, and viewers. Thank you so much for everything you've done to help us attempt to independently promote and defend free speech.
We're grateful for the millions of people who viewed UGETube videos in the USA and around the world. In 2020, we were hopeful when President Trump's attorney and many others promoted UGETube as an alternative to rampant censorship, and were honored to provide a safe haven for those struggling to get their message out.
In addition to the popular educational and informational content offered to the UGETube community, we held to our principles by including viewpoints we didn't particularly enjoy or agree with. Consistent with our original terms of service, we never censored any video unless it contained pornography, non-consensual, gratuitous violence, or copyright infringements according to statute.
Protecting unpopular speech should be the standard for any platform claiming to protect freedom of speech, and we're proud to have passed the test throughout our history. We remained true to our mission and vision when other platforms were censoring content they, or others pressuring them, didn't appreciate.
Barring timely, significant investment by independent sources, this concludes the UGETube experiment. If you are in a position to help perpetuate this platform and interested in ethically doing so, please contact us at [email protected].
