Officials in India’s holy city of Allahabad estimate of the 600 bodies buried on the banks of the Ganges, 150 have been cremated after floating up following monsoon floods in the last three weeks.

Unable to afford the cost of cremation services, many families had resorted to burying loved ones claimed by coronavirus near the river’s bank, as locals reportedly believe the number of corpses to be far higher than official figures.
