The Fruit Of Your Children When Following The Lord…

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

The Bible is clear that we are to go back to the old paths (Jeremiah 6:16) and that we are not to be given to change (Proverbs 24:21). So, in other words, we are to hold to in unchanging principles in ever-changing times. It’s not always easy to do if you have one foot in the world and one foot in the Church (James 4:4) and therein lies the problem with most people who have played the hypocrite with the Lord when it comes to their children (Exodus 20:7).

A father started for his office early one morning after a light fall of snow. Turning, he saw his little boy endeavoring to put his little feet in his own great footprints. The little fellow shouted: “Go on, I’se coming’ Papa, I’se coming right in your tracks.” He caught the boy in his arms and carried him to his mother and started again for his office. His habit was to stop along the way and do that which was wrong in the sight of God and man. As he stood upon the threshold that morning, he seemed to hear a sweet voice saying, “Go on, I’se a coming Papa, I’se a coming right in your tracks. “ He stopped, he hesitated, he looked the future square in the face. I cannot afford to make any tracks I would be ashamed or sorry to have my boy walk in, he said decidedly, and turned away.

The mother wonders why her daughter is pregnant at 16 and gets angry with her and yet, when the mother looks in the mirror and understands that she is a fornicator, which is sex before marriage (1 Corinthians 6:9), it then makes all the sense in the world.

Or the dad that left behind his children and ends up in jail for some crimes and wonders why his children fall in line with the same pattern in leaving their children that ending up in jail. Friends, “wisdom is justified of all her children” (Luke 7:35).

How many times I have seen and heard people complain about their own children when, in fact, they are the ones responsible for raising them up (Hebrew 4:13).
