SHOW NOTES...
Trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event

It expresses itself in unpredictable emotions, flashbacks, strained relationships, physical symptoms (like headaches or nausea).
And I would add, depressions.

https://www.apa.org/topics/trauma

The problem faced by many aspies is the event was not a tornado that wiped our your neighborhood, or a fire that burned down your home, but it was a lifetime of neglect, abuse, rejection, and misunderstanding.

The traumatic response is often seen when prompted by triggers.

A siren may trigger trauma which could trigger the memory of an emergency system alarm which, in turn, triggers panic.

I woman who panicked every time it snowed.
A woman who panicked every time he was encountered by a bird.
Man who panicked every time he encountered a frog.

Aspies tend to be triggered by crowds or individuals, or even thoughts of the past that express themselves in outbursts called meltdowns.

1. Create an awareness of the original cause of trauma

2. Reverse engineer the cause.

3. Reverse engineer the trauma response
Neutralize it through reason
Is my reaction a reasonable response

4. Rationalize Rather than rationalize the exaggerated response; rationalize an appropriate response repeating an event that is over
Not everyone is a bully. Not everyone rejects me

5. Journaling (balance through realism)
eg, not everyone I encounter today rejects me
Make a list of human kindnesses

6. Imagination: Imagine yourself

7. Congratulate yourself

8. Get help from a qualified therapist
