A remarkable record of the period 1940-44 in the unoccupied and occupied parts of defeated France. Based at the spa town of Vichy and led by Marshal Petain, French hero of WW1 and NAZI WW2 collaborator, the 'collaborationist' government mades its own laws and enjoyed a surprising degree of autonomy.
