In this video, Drake takes the audience through the thought process and some of the science behind creating a well balanced "high velocity" steel shot load for the 10ga 3-1/2" Magnum Cartridge.
- American Arms 10ga H.V. 1-5/8oz Steel Shot Load -
Hull: Remington 3-1/2" Magnum
Primer: Winchester 209
Powder: Vihta Vouri 3N38 (MAX Charge of 43gr)
Wad: Precision Reloading TUPRW105
Shot: 1-5/8oz Steel shot ("B+" shot size used - 132 pellet charge)
Crimp: 6 point star crimp
Velocity: 3-shot Average of 1,467 FPS (Expect 1,425 average in field conditions and with barrels less than 28")
Notes: Velocity tests taken in conditions of 85 F, 85% humidity, approx. 2,000 ft elevation. Only two guns with one choke constriction each were tested. Patterns obtained are not averaged and are sample sizes of one per yardage, per gun. Velocity tests were indicative and not averaged between barrel lengths (test length of 32" in the Mag-10).
