Banning Plastic Bags Won’t Save The Planet

We’ve all seen that video of the turtle with a straw stuck up his nose. And yes, we know that out in the ocean somewhere between Hawaii and California there’s a floating island made of trash supposedly twice the size of Texas.

So paying a few cents for a paper bag and forgoing a plastic straw in our iced coffee is a small price to pay when it comes to saving the earth and its wildlife.

But when our groceries are wrapped in reams of cellophane, our drinks served in non-recyclable Styrofoam cups, and even the trash bags

MSNBC’s Cross calls GOP anti-crime platform ‘bullhorn racist,’ says Dem policies haven’t elevated murder rate

MSNBC anchor Tiffany Cross claimed that Republicans’ focus on lowering crime in the U.S. represents their “tried-and-true method of fearmongering and race-baiting.”

Cross made her comments during MSNBC’s “The Cross Connection” on Saturday, where she spoke with her guests, political strategist Lucy Caldwell and Texas Democratic state representative Jasmine Crockett.

VP Kamala Harris says hurricane recovery should take ‘equity’ into account

Vice President Kamala Harris caused a stir Friday after she said the administration would take “equity” into account when dividing up disaster relief as Hurricane Ian rips up the eastern coastline.

“It is our lowest income communities and our communities of color that are most impacted by these extreme conditions,” she said during the Democratic National Committee’s Women’s Leadership Forum.

FEMA head said Ian aid will go to ‘all communities,’ rejecting Harris’ calls for ‘equity’

The chief of the Federal Emergency Management Agency insisted Sunday that Hurricane Ian aid will be provided to “all communities” — dismissing Vice President Kamala Harris‘ earlier claim that the assistance should be “based on equity.”

”We’re going to support all communities. I committed that to the governor, I commit to you right here that all Floridians are going to be able to get the help that is available to them through our programs,” Deanne Criswell said on CBS News’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday.

‘We’re a Second Amendment state’: DeSantis warns looters after Hurricane Ian

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued a pointed warning to anyone looking to take advantage of the chaos caused by Hurricane Ian.

“Don’t even think about looting. Don’t even think about taking advantage of people in this vulnerable situation. And so local law enforcement is involved in monitoring that,” he said during a Friday news conference.

“You can have people you know bringing boats into some of these islands and trying to ransack people’s homes. I can tell you, in the state of Florida, you never know what may be lurking behind somebody’s home, and I would not wanna chance that if I were you, given that we’re a Second Amendment state,” he added.
