Winter Woodworking Pt 2: Cold Steel Trail Hawk

On this short winter snowshoeing excursion my friend and I tested some Cold Steel chopping tools on some dead wood for the purpose of fire-making and fun. We did our best in this series of tests to be safe with the tools we used, and also very efficient in technique.

In part two, we use the Cold Steel Trail Hawk Tomahawk in the role of a small woods axe. This packable tomahawk lacks the heft of a larger axe - making it a bit slower to make effective chops with. However, this hawk's light weight makes it easy and non-fatiguing to swing and carve with for detailed chops. Also - as you'll see in the video - as long as good technique is employed, this Trail Hawk by Cold Steel is very good at splitting small sections of wood.
