On the first Sundays of Advent the Church encourages us to think of the End of All things… even the Second Coming. On that tremendous day, all that we have done will be examined and viewed by all men. Those who strove to live for the Lord and build up His Church will have a meaningful eternity, while those who did not will be shown to have a meaningless eternity which will it be for us?... a meaningful or meaningless eternity. To put it another way, we can build monuments that will last unto eternity. They will endure the trial and test of time. They will be immoveable. Or we can build monuments that will melt away unto nothingness! Again, to put it yet another way, the Cross, the sign of the Savior, will be seen in the sky. All that is done in union with this sign will endure. All that is done in enmity to it will fail.
