insulting an officer has always been a crime, all by itself. if you get stopped, it IS just another guy doing his job inclusive to whatever he thinks may be appropriate or necessary, why would anyone want to sign up to be on the guy's shit list?!! if you're being hauled in on a bogus charge he's NOT the judge and "playing lawyer" isn't going to help either.

been there done that, and didn't dig the hole deeper, asked "how is my truck too low?" and the cop was cool answering directly "if you puncture a tire its going to drop that metal into the pavement, everything solid must be an inch above the bottom of the rims". I thanked him. he was going to impound it, I asked if my friend could drive it straight home to his house and park it, he allowed it and I thanked him again. IN COURT.. all but one of 11 charges were dropped completely. how you conduct yourself is critical in the transaction, it IS a business transaction and YOU WILL PAY, don't be a jerk about it! :)
