Dr. Dunegan took his notes on the night that the lecture was given by his former professor, on March 20, 1969.
He held onto those handwritten notes for almost 19 years, from 1969 until 1988. Then in 1988 he took the notes out again, and from them made the now-famous recordings on two tapes, available for free download from archive.org and other sources. These tapes were in circulation in 1989. In 1989, when the tapes were in early circulation, Dr. Day passed away. In 1991, Dr. Dunegan gave an interview that became the third tape, which also provides some more information that was not given in the first two. I hope that helps! - David W. Daniels
