Locals on La Palma island (Canary Islands) report that part of the land associated with the volcano is tearing away.

If a large section of the volcano tears, this could cause an Atlantic wide tsunami. This is not a guarantee that this will happen, merely a statement of the worst case scenario at play if the situation deteriorates further. Geologists on site state this currently highly unlikely to occur, however are frequently monitoring ground movements and will send out alerts if neccessary.
