Stranded on an Island Alone

Imagine if you were a pagan on a cruse ship and you get hammered one night and fell overboard and washed up on some uncharted island.

The island was actually pretty cool, it had a spring with fresh water, plenty of coconuts and some tide pools so you could catch a fish or two.

So you’re living there for a couple weeks and one day as you are walking along the beach you notice a bible that had washed up on the shore.

You don’t really care about religion or the Bible however it’s the only thing you have to read, so you open it and begin to read.

You don’t know anything about God, nothing, and with no one to explain it to you what would you get as you read it?

No opinions, no outside influence, nothing, just You, that Bible, and God.

First thing you learn is that God created everything that exists, period.

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Next thing you learn is that external forces, Satan, ruined everything and God wiped it all out. You also learn about the first cruise ship, Noah’s Ark.

Then you learn that God created a nation, Israel and these people had some serious issues. God saves them and then they blow it, over and over again.

Next you read about poor Job, then the Psalms and you start to realize this book is reading you as you read it, what’s up with that.

You start to see a pattern that God is going to come visit the earth and set everything straight again, what’s up with that?

You finally arrive at the New Testament and start reading about Jesus, you notice all the prophecies he fulfilled that you read about previously.

You learn that this Jesus is no ordinary man as he was born of a virgin.

By the time you get to John you realize Jesus was The Son of God, this same Jesus appeared several times in the Old Testament?
By the time you get finished with Paul’s letters and the letters from John, Peter, James, and Jude you realize several absolute facts about Jesus.

1. Jesus is the Son of God, He and His Father are one. Jesus is God Almighty.

Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

2. Jesus is the only way to Heaven, period.

Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

3. You are saved by faith in Jesus and faith alone, works don’t matter.

Eph 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

4. All you have to do to be forgiven is ask?

1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

5. All you have to do to go to heaven is recognize who Jesus is, who you are, that you desperately need a savior.

Luk 23:40-43 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. 42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. (Then you read Revelation and realize in the end Jesus wins)
