Mattias Desmet is a Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Department of Psychology and Educational Sciences of Ghent University (Belgium) and he works as a psychoanalyst in private practice. Desmet is the author of the books The Pursuit of Objectivity in Psychology and Lacan’s Logic of Subjectivity: A Walk on the Graph of Desire.

Furthermore, he is one of the founders of the Single Case Archive. In 2018 he received the Evidence-based Psychoanalytic Case Study Price of the Association for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and in 2019 he received the Wim Trijsburg Price of the Dutch Association of Psychotherapy.
