Created by Italian writer Carlo Collodi of Florence, Tuscany, Pinocchio was carved by a woodcarver named Geppetto in a Tuscan village; He was created as a wooden puppet, but he dreams of becoming a real boy. Originally published in a serial form as "The Story of a Puppet" (La Storia Di Un Burattino) in the "Giornale Per I Bambini", an Italian weekly magazines for children, starting on July of 1881. In February 1883, the whole story was finally published in a single book.
