While there are UNDENIABLY MANY folks who have suffered unconscionable effects, including death, this one looks staged to me. And they are Russians...NOT generally given to stupidity. So maybe they’re going for a ‘teachable moment’ here?

To the contrary -- not a 'fail' but a LESSON. We often say that we 'learn from our mistakes.' Where this 'jab' is concerned, it seems IMPERATIVE TO LEARN FROM THE MISTAKES OF OTHERS, lest it be TOO LATE to learn from your own. So I say BRAVO to the beautiful and brilliant Russians for illustrating the point.
