(Translated from Spanish): The 6.4-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale that shook the San Juan province on Monday at 11:46 p.m., and which registered more than 50 aftershocks, including this Tuesday, left a balance of five slightly injured, 19 families evacuated and few damages in private houses, according to the preliminary survey carried out by the provincial authorities. The seismic movement that was also felt in other provinces and in Chile had collateral effects in the neighboring province of Mendoza, where the Civil Defense Directorate reported at least twelve minor collapses, such as falls from dividing walls and masonry, cracks in walls and ceilings, in various districts. As reported by the National Institute for Seismic Prevention (Inpres), the epicenter of the telluric event was in the San Juan town of Media Agua.
