Nashville resident Paul Frey delivered a simple and direct message to Nashville Mayor John Cooper Saturday night, and Frey said it in only one word — resign.

Countless people took to Cooper’s Facebook page Saturday and scolded the mayor for allying himself with anti-police protestors earlier in the day. They also rebuked Cooper for not taking an aggressive enough stance against protestors later in the day when protestors resorted to violence — by trashing the Metro Courthouse and, later, parts of downtown Broadway.

Minneapolis City Council Members Want To Abolish The Police

Several members of the Minneapolis City Council want to disband their city’s police force and are investigating how this goal might be realized.

“Several of us on the council are working on finding out, what it would take to disband the MPD,” says Steve Fletcher, a member of the 13-person assembly that serves as the legislative branch of Minneapolis government. The decision to abolish the police force comes after George Floyd died at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer, May 26. Floyd’s death triggered a wave of destructive riots throughout the city.

DC mayor has ‘Black Lives Matter’ painted on street leading to White House

Washington, DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser on Friday had “Black Lives Matter” painted in large yellow letters on the street that leads to the White House, and also designated the square in front of Lafayette Park as Black Lives Matter Plaza.

“There was a dispute this week about whose street this is,” John Falcicchio, Bowser’s chief of staff, wrote in a tweet.

Protesters Add ‘Defund The Police’ To ‘Black Lives Matter’ Painted Near White House

Washington, D.C., has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to communities of all sizes — the chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime is reportedly one in 17.

But protesters on Saturday painted “defund the police” on the street near the White House, next to an official city street mural reading, “Black Lives Matter.”

Washington Post reporter Samantha Schmidt, who says in her Twitter bio that she covers “gender and family issues,” said Black Lives Matter organizers painted the message.

The height of privilege': Seattle mayor blames 'white men' for nationwide riots

A Democratic mayor is blaming "white men" for the destruction in major U.S. cities as protests turned to riots over the weekend following George Floyd's death.

After looting broke out across her city on Sunday night, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan tweeted that white people had co-opted "peaceful demonstrations" that became violent as the weekend wore on.

"I want to acknowledge that much of the violence and destruction, both here in Seattle and across the country, has been instigated and perpetuated by white men," she said.
