Bradley tells a shocking story of how John Adams, with his two sons Charles and John Quincy Adams, survive a shipwreck and resort to riding donkeys over the Pyrenees mountains in the winter to get to Paris to meet with Louis XVI. He describes how it was John Adams who put his life at risk committing treason for his speech in favor of liberty and independence at the Philadelphia Convention. He also shares how John Adams was a workaholic who worked non-stop during the Revolutionary War while Thomas Jefferson resided at Monticello.
