The Idahoan shares his paraphrase of the 49th psalm.

Lyrics:

Let all people hear,
Both far and near,
To Earth’s remotest clime,
Both exalted and lowly,
Rich and poor,
Now heed the Lord’s wisdom sublime:

Man cannot comprehend
That he comes to an end,
Though all men go down to the grave,
And no ransom can give
Unto God for to live,
Or his soul from perdition to save.

Men in wealth put their trust ,
‘Til they turn to the dust,
And leave all their substance to their kin,
And though they carefully
Built a great legacy,
They are never remembered again.

But just like a beast,
They are laid down to rest,
In the ravening maw of the grave,
And nothing they retain,
Of all their glory and gain,
When the grim shores of death they must brave.

Wherefore be not afraid
When your rival is made
Affluent or influential,
But in God put your trust,
who made men out of dust,
And Who alone can redeem your soul!
