Horgan Sued - California Thanksgiving
B.C. premier sued for breaking election law
The group Democracy Watch is suing B.C. NDP Premier John Horgan for calling a snap election thereby breaking the province’s fixed-date election law.
“The case is not aimed at stopping the election. Instead, DWatch will only ask the court to declare that the Premier’s action violated the fixed election date measure in B.C.’s Constitution Act and the constitutional convention that has been created by premiers calling elections only on the fixed date in 2005, 2009, 2013 and 2017,” said the group in a release.
Democracy Watch said B.C. was the first jurisdiction in Canada to enact fixed election date measures with Bill 7 in 2001.
California's New Thanksgiving COVID Restrictions Are a Dystopian Nightmare
California is one of the most beautiful states in the union. Over the course of a few hours, you can go from beaches to ski slopes, and the weather is pretty great as well.
But there’s no doubt it’s horribly run from a governmental perspective. Right now, Gavin Newsom is leading one of the dumbest, most anti-science coronavirus responses in the nation as his state continues to set records for total infections, and not content with the current lack of progress, the governor decided to just go with a full dystopian nightmare for the holidays.
The recent guidelines for “gatherings” the state announced, as covered by our Jennifer Van Laar, are ridiculous enough – allowing for a wedding, but not for a reception, among others. Now, enter California’s new Thanksgiving COVID restrictions per Newsweek.
All gatherings must include no more than three households, including hosts and guests, and must be held outdoors, lasting for two hours of less.
“The longer the duration [of the gathering], the risk of transmission increases,” the statement noted.
“Gatherings that occur outdoors are significantly safer than indoor gatherings. All gatherings must be held outside. Attendees may go inside to use restrooms as long as the restrooms are frequently sanitized,” the statement added.
Maple Ridge group says it's relocating homeless people
A group in Maple Ridge says it is stepping in to push homeless people struggling with addiction and/or mental health issues out of what it considers gaps in legislation and policing.
Jamie Seip, an organizer of Clean up Maple Ridge, claims the group has driven, flown or ferried hundreds of such people from the streets of Maple Ridge back to the towns and cities they came from. He said the group is meeting the needs of residents fed up with socially unacceptable behaviour because police and government aren’t.
All Proven Rapists, Pedophiles and Murderers Should Receive Capital Punishment
In the eighteenth century, death penalty was used as the severe Punishment if a Person disobeyed the laws. Death penalty also known as Capital Punishment is the judicially ordered execution of a prisoner for a serious crime. The court, who administers the law enacted by parliament, will, after conviction of a criminal who has done serious offence, sentence him to be killed. It is believed by many, particularly those of religious persuasion that this type of punishment is inhumane and the practice should be abolished. I personally disagree with this opinion for several reasons.
As Stated above, death penalty is generally ordered where the crime is a serious offence such as murder. The courts have generally seen their task of fitting the punishment to the crime perpetrated. Thus the sentence should adequately reflect the revulsion felt by the victims and citizen. Sentencing should not only be appropriate but should deter the wrong doer from repeating the offence. As a matter of fact it should serve as a deterrence, retribution, rehabilitation, restitution, incapacitation and denunciation.
