Heavy Rains, Thunderstorms, hit Laoshan in Shandong, China. Top Tourist site completely Flooded.

Mount Lao or Laoshan is a mountain located near the East China Sea on the southeastern coastline of the Shandong Peninsula in China. Laoshan or Mount Lao is a popular tourist site with a top 5A government rating. It also well know for Tsingtao Beer as Tsingtao Beer (one of the largest breweries in China) was long advertised as being "brewed with mineral water from the Laoshan Spring", which contributed to its characteristic flavor.

On August 31, Qingdao (Tsingtao) was suddenly hit by a rainstorm, and deep ponding appeared in some sections of the city. The video taken by netizens shows that in Laoshan Scenic Spot, the water potential in some sections is turbulent and the flood roars down. At present (Sept 2), the whole Laoshan Scenic Spot is closed, and ticket sales and reservations are suspended.

Due to the large short-term rainfall, some mountain sand and stones were washed onto the road by rainwater. In addition, rainfall also caused some reservoirs in Laoshan District to overflow. Liuqinghe reservoir, Shazikou street, Laoshan District, spilled downstream at more than 139.2m at 11:00 yesterday (Sept 1).

It is reported that the storage capacity of the Liuqinghe reservoir is 2.6 million cubic meters. After continuous rainfall on the 30th and 31st, the water level reached the highest 140.30 meters at 11:00 on the 31st and overflowed downstream with an overflow flow of more than 100 cubic meters per second.

Mount Lao or Laoshan is culturally significant due to its long affiliation with Taoism and is often regarded as one of the "cradles of Taoism". It is the highest coastal mountain in China and the second highest mountain in Shandong, with the highest peak (Jufeng) reaching 1,132.7 meters (3,716 ft). The mountain lies about 30 kilometers (19 mi) to the northeast of the downtown area of the City of Qingdao and is protected by the Qingdao Laoshan National Park that covers an area of 446 square kilometers.
