hi this is Dr Tom Rogers at the common
0:13
sense MD coming to you with the weekly
0:15
podcast today I want to talk about
0:17
something that's controversial
0:20
um somewhat and something that patients
0:23
ask me all the time about an alternative
0:26
treatment for cancers
0:28
as you know we've made tremendous
0:30
strides in treating heart disease
0:32
cancers not as much so
0:37
one thing I will tell you we're going to
0:39
talk about
0:40
fenbendazole otherwise known as Finn bin
0:44
it's a treatment that um
0:47
a lot of people are looking at for many
0:50
different types of cancer in addition to
0:53
the traditional types now I want to
0:56
disclose that this is not medical advice
0:58
that I'm giving through this podcast
1:01
it's medical information you get medical
1:05
advice when you come into my office or
1:08
you see your own doctor so when it comes
1:12
to cancer treatments you know you want
1:14
to do everything you can to cure the
1:16
cancer
1:19
um and obviously I'm all for traditional
1:22
treatments of cancers whether it be
1:24
surgery chemo therapy radiation
1:29
um but there's also additional
1:32
treatments that may be helpful to you
1:34
because I've seen it I've seen it in my
1:35
practice I've read about it I've
1:38
researched it and I think if you use a
1:40
combination
1:41
approach certainly unless you have
1:45
something very straightforward that's
1:47
easily curable say like by surgery then
1:51
you should look into it at least
1:52
especially if you've been giving a poor
1:55
prognosis and or you know they say
1:58
nothing is going to work then you ought
2:01
to pull out all the stops in my opinion
2:03
and again we we're talking about maybe
2:06
cancer prevention as well I think it's
2:09
we're very close to getting genetic
2:12
testing that can predict what type of
2:15
cancer that you may be very vulnerable
2:18
to as a matter of fact they're out there
2:19
already they're not covered by insurance
2:23
but they're available so we'll be
2:25
talking about more of those later on in
2:28
future podcasts but in any event so
2:31
let's talk about
2:32
fembendazole
2:34
a close relative of mobendazole which we
2:38
use to treat pinworms in kids the thing
2:41
about mobendazole the human medicine or
2:45
at least human form of it it's very
2:48
expensive so what's usually used in
2:50
these cases are finbendazole which you
2:53
may know as a dog dewormer it's kind of
2:56
hilarious but it is a dog dewormer but
3:00
you can get it over the counter it's
3:02
very inexpensive and there's a lot of
3:05
people that use it and get great results
3:07
from it this drug has been around since
3:10
1974. it's used worldwide like I say
3:14
it's over the counter it's inexpensive
3:17
um it definitely
3:19
kills parasites but it's also
3:22
people think that it's very effective as
3:25
an anti-cancer agent and I have seen it
3:28
used in patients with good results with
3:32
virtually no side effects and remember
3:33
there's no medicine in the world that
3:35
doesn't possibly have a side effect but
3:38
this one's really really low but it's
3:41
it's really been shown to be effective
3:42
in causing regression of various tumor
3:45
types
3:47
also used in combination with other
3:51
traditional approaches like chemotherapy
3:54
and radiation it won't interfere with
3:56
them
3:57
um so you're talking about a repurposed
3:59
drug you know in the last three years
4:01
we've talked a lot about repurposed
4:02
drugs that have worked
4:05
um as a complementary anti-cancer
4:08
medication
4:10
it really appears to work in a very
4:13
similar fashion to a lot of the
4:14
chemotherapeutic drugs without the side
4:17
effects or toxicity
4:21
um
4:22
however like anything repurposed drugs
4:25
there's not a ton of human
4:29
experiments with it there have been but
4:32
there's nobody that's gonna because it's
4:35
over the counter it's cheap there's
4:37
there's no big Pharma company that's
4:39
going to carry out double blind
4:40
placebo-controlled trials on this thing
4:43
so and you know plus you may not have
4:45
the time to to have one of those run if
4:47
you're dealing with cancer
4:50
um now these are pills that you can get
4:53
over the counter you can order them
4:56
it has limited absorption in the gut so
4:59
you have to take them with food as a
5:01
matter of fact some people just take the
5:03
capsule and sprinkle it over their food
5:04
and eat it that way so the bio
5:09
availability of this has definitely
5:11
increased by eating food with it
5:14
um
5:15
under five percent of people will get a
5:18
little stomach discomfort from it
5:21
um if you took a higher dose of it like
5:22
maybe a little loose stools now people
5:25
with severe liver or kidney problems you
5:28
have to you know they have lower
5:29
excretion rates of any drug so you have
5:32
to watch their liver function test and
5:34
that's easy to do
5:36
um
5:37
so you watch that and if it does I
5:40
haven't seen it do that but if it does
5:41
you just stop it and it reverses within
5:43
a couple weeks
5:45
um
5:45
the protocol
5:48
um
5:49
it can be varied
5:51
most people have heard of this guy named
5:53
Joe tippins who really got the ball
5:55
rolling with fembendazole he was a guy
5:59
who had metastatic small cancer of the
6:03
lung and was told there was nothing they
6:05
can do just go ahead and die but he was
6:07
talking with a veterinarian friend of
6:08
his and who had seen this work in some
6:12
animals for cancer so he tried it and
6:15
you know he's still cancer free I think
6:17
this was back in 2017 that he took the
6:20
medicine and he's still cancer free
6:23
so with no evidence of any recurrences
6:26
so the original protocol was to take
6:29
this for three days and take four days
6:31
off
6:33
um and they didn't cause any problems
6:38
um for prolonged use I mean you can use
6:40
this thing indefinitely really because
6:43
you don't develop a tolerance to it
6:45
um it suggested that you do take some
6:48
other things with it to increase the
6:50
effectiveness of it milk thistles one
6:54
curcumin's one CBD drops or another
6:58
they seem to have concurrent effects
7:01
with the fin Bend if you take them that
7:03
way
7:04
how does this stuff work
7:07
that's really interesting you really get
7:08
into a lot of chemistry with this but it
7:11
really works it really cures a parasite
7:15
by selectively blocking the synthesis of
7:18
microtubules
7:21
microtubules are part of the the
7:23
structure of a cell that allows passes
7:27
of things to get into the cell to do
7:29
their work including chromosomes
7:32
including cancer really cancer is a
7:36
disease of mitosis mitosis is
7:39
replication and as you know cancer cells
7:42
just keep dividing and dividing and
7:45
dividing very rapidly
7:47
so what this does it it blocks these
7:51
tubules
7:52
selectively and stops mitosis or cell
7:56
division
7:57
kind of like taxol and vincristine do
8:00
that are chemotherapeutic drugs so they
8:04
found out that that's the way it kills
8:06
the parasites but also exhibits a
8:08
similar effect against cancer cells so
8:13
the street turns out there's three main
8:15
mechanisms that the fin bin works and
8:17
one is by the induction of apoptosis
8:21
which is program cell death and it works
8:25
by cell cycle or rest just like we were
8:28
talking about through these inhibition
8:30
of these microtubules
8:34
the second way it works is inhibition of
8:37
glucose uptake in cancer cells malignant
8:41
cells are known to have an enormous
8:43
glucose uptake that's why I tell
8:46
everybody that has cancer there's a
8:47
couple things I would immediately do one
8:49
I would go on a ketogenic diet the
8:52
