Tom Satterly, our next guest on the show, spent 25 years in the United States Army, 20 of which were spent at Delta Force, officially known as the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (1st SFOD-D). In this three-part series, we delve deeply into what led Tom to join the U.S. Army, his path to becoming a Green Beret, and shortly thereafter, his role as a Delta Force Operator. We also explore his involvement in hunting the world's first wanted man of the United Nations, "Mohamed Farrah Hassan Aidid," and the Battle of Mogadishu, commonly referred to as Black Hawk Down—an 18-hour-long gunfight to recover two downed Black Hawks.

Later in the series, you will hear how these 25 years of war have impacted his life and how they have affected thousands of other combat veterans. Gen, Tom's wife, joins Shawn to discuss disturbing statistics related to veterans who have committed suicide since 9/11. This episode delves deep into the challenges of mental health, which has become a significant issue for our veterans, and explores the timeline of Tom's life since Black Hawk Down.

Tom has stated that this will be his last interview discussing the events of Black Hawk Down, as it impacts him every time he discusses it.
