This was exactly our experience with TSC feed, here in SW Georgia. We had switched last month to another feed store due to hearing that TSC was supporting non-family values, but we were surprised and pleased when the switch led to the production of many more eggs for us.

@Rebecca Snavely I agree with you. I'm sharply curtailing my purchasing from TSC. They're the only supplier in my area that sells 50lb bags of oyster shell calcium. I can buy the calcium there or buy smaller 5-10 lb bags elsewhere at a much higher overall price.

@JerseyGirl A local feed store carries the Kalmbach chicken feeds. We've used both the organic and the natural (probably means just not organic) chicken feeds in the line. Both types have been very good for our hens, which quickly ramped up to 75%+ rate, now laying at least 21 eggs daily average out of 27 birds. We were getting 5-7 eggs daily with TS feeds before the change. We're so happy we switched, for many reasons!

@Errol Velayo - I have too many predators, especially fox and hawks where I live to free range them. I lost too many chickens so built a "Fort Knox" coop and run. It was only when I started feeding scratch that my chickens went into molt and stopped laying. You can read my comment above. But I do agree, free range is the healthiest way to go if you want the best eggs.

@Shari Henderson I’m in forest in Bitterroot National Forest & free range about 35 birds, TSC Feed in winter but they still live outdoors around barn behind electric at night… I stay vigilant, armed & my dog & wild turkeys help protect the flock. I’ve lost to falcon & hawks are occasionally chased away… our neighborhood foxes do laps through the yard in my cameras, but have not threatened during day… had mountain lion kill in yard last winter & pack of wolves just ran up our road last week… no high horses here about free ranging, it’s about sustainable/affordable when considering TSC Feed has more than doubled in last 5 years! Thanks for great heads up! TSC going WOKE must result in going BROKE… LORD Bless Y’all in 2023!

Dumore feed is a product of Purina and has their logo right on the bag. I feed my chickens nutrena and have never had trouble until this year. It seems to me it is probably a much larger problem!
Let's face it when we use corporate animal feed we haven't gotten off the grid, or managed to buck the system.

That's my thoughts as well, avoid using commercial anything. We try to free range as much as possible and are now cutting back selling extra eggs. With commercial feed in short supply we are looking towards free ranging with fewer birds to winter feed in a natural way. Not sure how that will go but we are at least thinking of it.

@Ms. Hotdog Legs Producer's Pride feed manufactured by Purina Animal Nutrition
Purina traces its roots back to 1894, when founder William H. Danforth began producing feed for various farm animals under the name Purina Mills. The predominant brand for each animal was generally referred to as "Chow"; hence there was "Purina Horse Chow", "Purina Dog Chow", "Purina Cat Chow", "Purina Rabbit Chow", "Purina Pig Chow", and even "Purina Monkey Chow". Later, in 1902, he merged with university professor Webster Edgerly, founder of Ralstonism, who was at the time producing breakfast cereals, to form the "Ralston Purina Company".

Ralston Purina sold Purina Mills, the U.S. animal feed business, to British Petroleum in 1986, while retaining the pet food and international animal feed businesses. In 1993, the Sterling Group of Houston led a leveraged buyout of Purina Mills. In 1998, it was purchased by Koch Industries, but a U.S. bankruptcy court cancelled out all equity held by Koch to maintain the company's viability. Purina Mills was purchased by Land O'Lakes in 2001
