Brunswick, VA racism claim on stop
The Brunswick county sheriff's office released the body cam video of an officer on a traffic stop with a woman who later claimed racism during a facebook rant.
Dawn Hilton-Williams said she was bullied by a Sgt of the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office during a traffic stop for speeding. "I was just bullied by a racist cop, who threatened to pull me out of the car," said Hilton-Williams in the 11-minute long Facebook video.
"This is where we got lynched. This is where we got lynched, even in today's day."
She was pulled over for going 70 in a 55 mph zone and when asked to sign the traffic summons, she said she was not going to sign it because she didn't see any traffic signs with the speed limit posted.
The Sheriff of the county decided to release the video. "I started getting calls from citizens asking what is going on. They had seen a posting and were concerned about how I would allow it to happen," said Brunswick County Sheriff Brian Roberts, after the video went viral on Facebook.
