Biden fails to answer Manchin questions in ‘incoherent mumbling’ press conference
President Joe Biden’s first proper press conference in months has been met with criticism – with Americans labelling his address “incoherent mumbling” that featured “creepy whispering”.
The US leader addressed the nation to discuss the rise of COVID-19 cases and the threat of the Omicron variant.
Mr Biden has been criticised in the last few months for failing to take questions from reporters when he makes an address.
However, today he took a few questions from journalists, with one probing him on Senator Joe Manchin’s decision to not support the President’s ‘Build Back Better’ bill.
Mr Biden mumbled through a long answer and finished his sentence by saying “I’m not supposed to be having this press conference.”
Social media users took to Twitter to criticise the President for struggling to engage his nation.
"I tried really hard to listen to Biden's press conference, but that whispery, mumbling he does put me to sleep in five minutes,” one user wrote.
"That one had all the hallmarks of a great Biden speech: The incoherent mumbling, the citation of made-up statistics, the creepy whispering, the angry old man shouting - one for the archives,” another wrote.
