Where is that luminous smile?
Laughter's missing for awhile.
I can only imagine who is there behind the mask.
Where is that quirky grin,
Or quizzical look where there might have been?
I instead, surmise in my search behind the mask.

Where is that confident smirk,
Silent frown you often shirk.
Emotion made inhuman lurking just behind the mask.
Where was that look of hope?
Drearily, now we try to cope.
Patiently, I wait for your return from behind the mask.
