A geomagnetic storm is currently ongoing allowing those in the northern United States and Canada to see the magic of the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights instantly light up the night sky for a about 20 minutes this morning just after Midnight central time.

Unfortunately with the clear skies brought insanely cold temps into the negative teens to the region.

Footage shows several clips of a timelapse of the Aurora dancing in the sky and then clips of time and temp displays on various signs around town.
Shot Description

Clip 1 - 4 Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights almost instantly turn on from a dull green glow to an amazing light show.
Clip 5 - 7 Signs with time and temp showing the outside air temp is in the -16F to -17F just after 1am local time. Factor in the wind chill and it feels more like -32F.

Great video - here in central UK we're almost always slightly too far south to see them, one of these nights I'll jump in the car with my SLR and drive the 300 miles up to Scotland where I'll hopefully be more successful! Also, that's very cold!
